A deeper journey into Jewish identity, values, and pride.
The BMitzvah Discovery Course helps students prepare for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah — and for Jewish adulthood beyond it. This engaging program runs every two years, from November through March, with the next course beginning November 2026.
Open to boys and girls in Grades 6–8, the course is best completed a few months before each student’s ceremony. Exact dates and times will be determined with the group in September 2026.
While Chabad Hebrew School (CHS) builds a foundation in Jewish history, holidays, and mitzvot, the Discovery Course takes students deeper — exploring themes of faith, values, and purpose, and strengthening their understanding of Jewish life and responsibility.
Girls learn in depth about the special mitzvot that are uniquely theirs — such as lighting Shabbat candles and baking challah — while boys study the mitzvah of tefillin and its significance. Each student gains appreciation and confidence as they take their place in Jewish life.
We expect our CHS students to attend both CHS and the BMitzvah Discovery Course in the year leading up to their Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
